This year the event is being held at the nationally recognized historic Fort Piqua Plaza on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Registration for the 2015 Miami Valley Cycling Summit – an interactive, conference-style program includes presentations from nationally respected speakers and professionals in the field of bicycle advocacy – is now open!

The lineup of speakers and presentation topics scheduled for the 2015 Miami Valley Cycling Summit promises to deliver perspectives and insights that will be of interest and value to elected and appointed officials, business and community leaders, cycling advocates and enthusiasts, and anyone else who wants to learn more about the positive benefits which cycling cultivates in a community. Mayor Bill Peduto of Pittsburgh, PA, the keynote presenter at the 2015 Cycling Summit, will share how his office is leading the way in transforming Pittsburgh into a pro walk, pro bike, livable city.

Stephen Clark, Community Specialist with the League of American Bicyclists, will highlight how cycling can transform your community into a vibrant destination for residents and visitors and make it a place where people and businesses thrive.

Melinda Huntley, Executive Director of the Ohio Travel Association, will share insights on how local businesses can attract and benefit from cycling tourism.

Eric Orberg with the Rails to Trails Conservancy, will share how data collection and promotion can make your trail into the economic engine it should be.

Andy Williamson, Great Lakes Regional Director for IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association), will explain how natural surface trails can complement existing infrastructure, showcase greenspace, and attract more youth to cycling and the community.

Tom Helbig, special event guru and owner of Tomfoolery Outdoors, will explain how to organize and manage community events that grow interest and encourage more participation in cycling and other outdoor recreation opportunities in your community.

Amy Camp of Cycling Forward, will share how the ‘trail towns’ along the GAP (Great Allegheny Passage) work together to leverage the GAP as a major tourism attractor that produces major benefits for the local economies.

Emmy Fabich and Katie Norris with Bike Miami Valley will present bicycle education best practices being utilized to improve cyclist safety in communities all across the county.

Matt Lindsay, of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission will review the status of the Comprehensive Bikeway Plan Update and share what connections in the regional trail system have been made and what exciting projects are coming down the pipeline.

Julie Walcoff, Bicycle Pedestrian and Safe Routes to School Manager with the Ohio Department of Transportation, will highlight how to use Ohio Safe Routes to School program resources to advance pedestrian and bicycle friendly improvements in your community.
