August 23, 2014 @ 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm

see details

On Friday-Sunday, August 22-24, seven black women artists will premiere new work in the Experiments in Joy festival as part of “Call & Response,” a dynamic of black women and performance at Antioch College.

These artists are Antioch Associate Professor of Performance Gabrielle Civil, Duriel E. Harris (Chicago), Kenyatta A. C. Hinkle (LA), Rosamond S. King (Brooklyn, NY), Wura-Natasha Ogunji (Austin, TX and Lagos, Nigeria), Miré Regulus (Minneapolis) and Awilda Rodríguez Lora (San Juan, PR).

In July, these artists met together to share work, connect with community and collaborate on a Call, a collective prompt for artistic action. The theme that emerged for the Call was Experiments in Joy.
This festival is the Response to that Call.

All events are free and open to the public and will take place in the Antioch Theater at 920 Corry Street, Yellow Springs (*except where noted). Along with the artists’ installations and live performance, this festival will include community experiments, a short film series and more! Program schedule below. For more information, please contact gcivil@antiochcollege.org.
