On National Senior Health and Wellness Day, Wednesday, May 27, at 1:00 pm, the Yellow Springs Senior Center is celebrating with a Flash Mob on Short Street at Xenia Avenue in Yellow Springs to the music of ‘Shout!’ released in 1959 by the Isley Brothers. 

Everyone is invited. Please come show support for fitness and senior fitness!

Please come join in the dance, or watch and help celebrate. The dance is short, just two minutes, and it will be led by a lead dancer. Then there will be a party in the Senior Center Great Room, at the back of the Center at 227 Xenia Avenue, Yellow Springs, one-half block north of the flash mob site, with refreshments and a proclamation by the Mayor of Yellow Springs.  

The easy-to-follow choreography was created, and is performed and taught by Katy Gaines of Kula Cooperative, with two short videos that may be found on youtube.com by searching for “Yellow Springs Senior Center Dance Moves.” Katy will lead the mob at the event on May 27, at 1:00 pm. Tue. May 26   10:00 am and 3:30 pm

Some of the moves may seem vigorous, but you can do them mildly, at your own level.

It’s short, two minutes, so you might want to be there early!

For anyone who may be coming from outside Yellow Springs, parking for the event may be found in the area of Walnut Street between Dayton Street and Limestone Street, or on Elm Street near where it Ts into Walnut Street.
