Ginger Bread Festival

The aroma of gingerbread fills the air in Yellow Springs from 11 am-2 pm on Saturday, December 10th at the Second Annual Gingerbread Festival to benefit the Mills Lawn Elementary School PTO.
A whole offering of sweet family holiday activities will take place starting with our homemade gingerbread creation competition. Design, bake, and decorate your own gingerbread creation at home to compete for prizes and bragging rights. Visit millslawnpto.com for contest entry forms and more information. The Gingerbread House Contest judging and other activities start at 11 am.
You don’t need to be a baker to enjoy the rest of our festive activities and there is plenty of fun for all ages. Start with a coffee from The Roastery and treats from Three Leee Cupcakery.
Kids can decorate one of our cookie cottage kits featuring the Young’s Sweet Shoppe from 11 am-2 pm. They can share their gift list with Santa from noon until 2 pm thanks to the support of the Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce. And they can do their own holiday shopping and wrap their gifts with the help of elves at the Tyke Shop sponsored by Asanda Imports.
At 11:30, President and Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt will be telling stories and demonstrating Victorian Era Toys in the Mills Lawn Library. And you can enter a drawing to win a live tree from Carl and Dorothy Young’s Christmas Trees or to be an Official Light Flipper for the Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill.
There’s so much more to do in town all day! From noon – 3 pm you can hitch a ride on a horse drawn wagon to some lovely downtown shopping or head to the Little Art Theater to see Polar Express at 11 am. The School Forest Festival is happening at Glen Helen on Bryan Park Road from 9 am -3 pm with hayrides and hot cocoa. The 3rd Annual Alternative Gift Fair with great gifts from our local non-profits is at the Senior Center from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. Finally, John Bryan Community Pottery is having their Annual Holiday Sale from 11 am – 5 pm in the Penguin Building at the rear of 100 Dayton St.
