This year’s theme for the 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will be “His Dream: Our Commitment to Justice.” The program will take place on Monday, January 19 at 11 a.m. at the Central Chapel AME Church and will be followed by soup lunch at the church. The annual event will be preceded by a brief program at Antioch College and the annual MLK Day March, which departs from Mills Lawn Elementary School at 10:30 a.m.

The program will feature Rev. Joel King, cousin of Martin Luther King Jr., as the main speaker. Other highlights include the World House Choir, readings by local students and the announcement of the 2015 Community Peacemaker Award receipient. The award recognizes an individual or group who has contributed to peaceful relations in Yellow Springs, the region, the nation or the world.
