The Herndon Gallery opens its newest exhibition, agriCULTURE, in conjunction with Antioch College’s Global Seminar on Food, and with support from the Antioch Farm and Antioch Kitchens. What are the costs — human, environmental, social, economic, political and personal — of agriculture as it is practiced today? Are our current methods of food production sustainable? Seven artists of international, national and regional acclaim — deeply invested in farming, beekeeping, ecology, public health, and environment — critically examine modern industrial agricultural systems; powerfully document its impacts and trajectory of devastating personal, social, and ecological losses; and re-imagine whimsical, futuristic and homegrown ways of re-connecting with land, food and each other.

Artists: Sarah Christianson, Dennie Eagleson ’71, Jeni Hansen Gord (in collaboration with Howard Peller), Anne Noble, Jeff Schmuki, Allison Rae Smith and Jennifer Wenker.
