Ohio Chautauqua Living History Tour

Ohio Chautauqua

The Ohio Chautauqua Living History Tour is coming to Clifton this summer! Surrounding communities will also share in the experience during Chautauqua week, June 30-July 4th. Daily workshops by the Ohio Humanities scholars will be held at area libraries (Yellow Springs, Cedarville, Xenia, and New Carlisle), as well as the Heritage Center in Springfield, the Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in Wilberforce, and the Clifton Gorge Naturalist Center.

Friday, July 3rd

10:00 am – Xenia Library – Kevin Radaker leads youth workshop, “Picturing Nature” – Listen to passages from Thoreau’s Walden and illustrate nature scenes.

2:00 pm – United Senior Services, Springfield – Kevin Radaker leads adult workshop, “Thoreau’s Passion for the Wild & the Wilderness” – How Thoreau influenced the wilderness preservation movement.

6:45p – Main Stage Tent, Clifton – The Springfield “Cardinal Squares” square dance performance

7:30p – Main Stage Tent, Clifton Gold Rush ‘49er J. G. Bruff story performed by Hank Fincken
