Scott Ainslie Live @ YSAC
September 14, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
$15We’re pleased to host Scott Ainslie for a concert at the Yellow Springs Arts Council Gallery on Thursday, September 14 at 7:30 pm. Scott, who hails from Brattleboro, Vermont, is a seasoned acoustic blues performer and songwriter who logged years with senior musicians in the mid-South. He transcribed all of Delta Blues legend Robert Johnson’s recorded songs and published “Robert Johnson/At the Crossroads” in 1992 with Hal Leonard Corp. He has taught for more than twenty years at the Swannanoa Gatherings Guitar Week in North Carolina. Quoted from a review of his latest CD The Last Shot Got Him: “Brattleboro, Vermont native Scott Ainslie is a country bluesman of the highest order. Armed with only his superb voice and a 1930’s era Gibson L-50 arch top acoustic, Ainslie deftly weaves his way through….outstanding renditions of songs by Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson, Irving Berlin, Oliver Wallace and Ned Washington, Reverand Gary Davis, Fats Waller and Yip Harburg & Harold Arlen. ……with a warm affable persona, and a wealth of musical knowledge, I highly recommend checking him out when he comes to a town near you. You won’t be sorry.” Brian M. Owens, Blues Music Magazine, Issue #7. We hope you can join us in welcoming Scott to Yellow Springs and sharing an evening of great music. Admission will be $15 at the door.
