Cynthia (Cindi) Yost, Attorney
with Disability Rights Ohio

Cindi will provide information on Disability Rights Ohio (DRO): who they are, what they do, and how you
can contact them. She will speak about client rights, advance directives (more specifically the Ohio
Declaration for Mental Health Treatment or Psychiatric Advance Directive) and employment and
employment rights for persons living with mental illness and/or other disabilities.
Cindi has been an attorney with DRO (formerly known Ohio Legal Rights Service) since 2000. Prior to that,
she worked for ten years as Assistant State Public Defender with the Ohio Public Defender Commission.
She graduated from Capital University Law School in May 1989. She was admitted to practice law in the
State of Ohio in 1989.
In her current capacity with DRO, Cindi is assigned the majority of short-term assistance and information
and referral cases and works closely with DRO intake specialists. Her cases cover a broad cross-section
having to do with employment; post-secondary education; Probate Court proceedings including
guardianship, civil commitment and forced medication; advance directives; housing; abuse and neglect in
hospitals, facilities and pertaining to obtaining treatment and services for both mental health and
developmentally disabled clients; Social Security issues; and Medicaid and Medicare issues. Moreover, as a
member of the Central Ohio Bedbug Task Force, Cindi has lots of information about bedbugs!
