5K Walk/Run for Child Abuse Prevention Month
Walking Together to STOP Child Abuse

Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 9am

The Family Violence Prevention Center of Greene County (FVPC), Greene County Children Services, and Greene County Board of Developmental Disabilities, together with event sponsor the Xenia Chrome Divas, will host the Superhero Child Abuse Prevention and Elimination (C.A.P.E.) 5K walk/run, in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. This is a unique opportunity for individuals and families to direct their supportive energies toward an important cause: to stand up for the protection of survivors of child abuse and family violence, and to help our children find their voice and stay safe. All proceeds will go toward funding programs to prevent and to end child abuse, neglect and family violence.

The race will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 9am, beginning and finishing at Beavercreek High School and involve the following streets: Fudge Dr., Ater Dr., Lemcke Rd., Coldsprings Dr., Edenwood Dr., Celia Dr., Ripon Dr., Valdina Dr., Willowridge Dr., Yolanda St. and Lantana Dr. Pre-registration is currently underway and participants can register online at www.speedy-feet.com through April 16th for $20 per participant. After April 16th, participants will need to register at the event location beginning at 8am for $25. Teams of 5 or more can register together and participate for a discounted rate of $15 per runner on or before April 16th. Printable registration forms are also available for download, which then can be mailed or faxed to FVPC at the address provided.

We are hoping participants and teams will have fun with the Superhero theme this year. Walkers and runners are encouraged to wear a costume, cape etc. to demonstrate their superpowers as we all try to eliminate child abuse in our communities.

Medals and team trophies will be awarded at the finish of the race and results will be posted on the Speedy Feet website. All entries received prior to April 16th will receive a t-shirt and goodie bag. Children in a stroller or wagon will be permitted to participate in the race free of charge, and pets on a leash are welcome as well. As always, donations will be accepted for those who are not physically able to participate but wish to support child abuse prevention. Participants are also encouraged to ask their company to provide a matching gift to double their support and efforts.

For more information or to register by phone, please call (937) 376-8526 ext. 112.
