6th Annual Yellow Springs Zombie Walk Festival, Food Drive, and Fundraiser for Yellow Springs Home, Inc. is Saturday, October 18th from 4-10 p.m. Raffles, food and craft vendors, games for kids, zombie face-painting, costume contest, and LIVE music all day. Full details: From 4-10 p.m., zombies of all ages will gather for a variety of activities and a free street concert, all to raise money and food for local charities. This grassroots, all-volunteer led event directly benefits the Village of Yellow Springs by providing food and shelter through donations to the local food pantry and affordable housing provider Yellow Springs Home, Inc. Last year, an estimated 1,000 zombies and affiliates participated from as far away as Cincinnati and Columbus, many never having stepped foot into the eclectic, artsy small town before.

Zombie walk organizers ask that participants bring a suggested donation of $5.00 per and 2 non-perishable food items (no items past the expiration date, please), to benefit area food pantries. Non-food items such as diapers and toiletries are also welcomed, as they are often not covered by food stamps. Find Zombie Headquarters to make your donation and to register for the event.

Starting at 4:00 pm, craft and food vendors, face painting and makeup, and games for kids will be located on the 100 block of Dayton Street between Corry Street and Walnut Street in Yellow Springs. Local zombie enthusiasts will even help with makeup (provided) for a suggested donation of $5.00. Arrive early to participate in the costume contest, and don’t miss the zombie photo booth and zombie circus, sponsored by the Tavern! The Zombie Walk itself will take place downtown at 9:00 p.m. starting at the corner of Corry and Dayton Streets in Yellow Springs. Special 6th annual Yellow Springs Zombie Walk t-shirts and crafts will be sold as fundraisers. A gift basket will also be raffled off alongside a 50/50 raffle, which will split all proceeds between lucky winners and local charities. Raffle tickets are available for presale now by contacting zombiewalk.yellow@yahoo.com and will be available the day of the event. Local bands will also play in throughout the entire event at a free street party, including: JFX316, Will C and Family, It’s People, Malefalcon, and Doctor Meat. Sound is provided by RTD Audio.

Two great causes will benefit from the fundraiser – local and area food pantries, which provide much needed food and other basic necessities to local families in need, and Yellow Springs Home, Inc., a local community land trust dedicated to providing permanently affordable, sustainable housing for families poorly served by the prevailing housing market.
