PLEASE NOTE: This month’s dance will be held on the 5th Saturday, rather than the 4th, so as not to conflict with the Sugar Hill Dance Weekend in Bloomington (more details here, if interested in attending: http://bloomingtoncontra.org/sugar-hill/).

Music Session: 6-7 P.M.
Dance: 7-10 P.M.

Where: The Sontag-Fels building, on the Antioch Campus, at 800 Livermore Street. (Head downstairs and to the left.)

We will be holding an hour-long music session at 6:00, before the dance. If you play an instrument, please join us, even if you are not familiar with contra dance music. Bring a tune to teach, learn some new ones, or just come to play along and get a feel for the music. Contra dance music is a loose genre that draws heavily on Scots-Irish, Cape Breton, and American old-time sources, but it doesn’t have to stay “trad.” The only real rule is “can you dance to it?”

At 7:00, we’ll hold the dance itself:
Caller: Margaret Ann Goodman
Music: Open Band featuring Deborah Clark Colón (fiddle), Mark DeLozier (piano), Perin Ellsworth-Heller (fiddle), Ben Hemmendinger (accordion), the Kosey Tribe, and other regulars.

Guest musicians and callers are welcome and encouraged. Bring an instrument, bring a dance, bring a friend. We’ll have some instruction for new dancers as the dance begins at 7:00.
Suggested donation (dance only): $5. Antioch students: free.
