Author reading and conversation with Rick Donahoe

June 11, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

The Antioch College Local Writer Series is proud to host Yellow Springs resident Rick Donahoe, who will be reading from Alabama 1966, winner of the 2014 Fish Publishing Short Memoir Prize. Rick has been invited to read this piece at the July launching of this year’s Fish Anthology in Bantry, County Cork, Ireland.

Rick Donahoe grew up in the east and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1966 with a degree in Conservation Education. He then joined the Peace Corps and spent the next few years working in land reform in Kenya, East Africa. A farrier by trade, Rick, along with wife Mary and two children, raised cattle and commercial peppermint for 25 years on an irrigated high-desert farmstead in central Oregon. Since moving to Yellow Springs eighteen years ago, Rick writes, plays old time Appalachian music and still gets under a few horses.

Rick will be reading on Wednesday, June 11, at 7 p.m. in the Coretta Scott King Center. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please e-mail Jennifer Berman at jberman@antiochcollege.org or phone 937-768-3183.
