Jasper String Quartet to Perform Chamber Music in Yellow Springs

On Sunday, October 5th at 7:30 p.m., the Jasper String Quartet will play a concert of chamber music at the First Presbyterian Church in Yellow Springs (314 Xenia Avenue). The quartet return to Yellow Springs to open the “Season of Winners,” a year-long celebration of previous winners of the Annual Competition for Emerging Professionals. The Jasper String Quarter was founded at Oberlin Conservatory and won the CMYS competition in 2008. They have won numerous other awards, including the Silver Medal at the 2008 and 2009 Fischoff Chamber Music Competitions and the 2012 CMA Cleveland Quartet Award. On October 5th, the Jaspers will begin with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Quartet in D Major, Op. 18 No. 3. They continue with Four on the Floor, by contemporary composer Judd Greenstein, and finish with Robert Schumann’s Quartet in A Major, Op. 41 No. 3. According to the Naples News, “The Jasper String Quartet… guarantees great music no matter what it plays.”

Concert tickets are $20 for adults and $7 for students; information on purchasing advance tickets is available at cmys.org. Season subscriptions are still available. Beginning at 6:45 p.m. Charles Larkowski will give the pre-concert lecture in the church.
