Fall Meditation and Teaching Retreat October 10-12, 2014

Announcing a meditation and teaching retreat in Glen Helen. Kathy Wesley is incredibly skilled at conveying the essentials of Buddhism to Westerners. There will be time for teaching and meditation each day, plus meals, socializing, hiking options. If you’re at all intimidated by the idea of a meditation retreat, this is the one to attend. Guests are welcome to come and go as they please, attend as much or as little as you like.

All of us would like to experience more mental tranquility, more compassion for ourselves and others, and a more meaningful life. But sometimes there seems to be a gap between our dharma study and practice and the rest of our life. How do we begin to close this gap?

At this weekend practice and study retreat, we’ll discuss how to establish, maintain, and deepen a daily meditation practice, and how to connect our practice with the rest of our life. Several types of meditation will be taught and practiced during the weekend.

WHO: The retreat is open to the general public and suggested for beginners through long-term practitioners.

WHEN: Begins in the evening on Friday, October 10 and concludes in the afternoon on Sunday, October 12.

WHERE: The retreat will be held at the Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center (OEC) in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Located less than an hour from Columbus, the retreat is situated in the beautiful thousand acre Glen Helen Nature Preserve.

Cost is $100 for non-members, $90 for members and patrons.

Dorms for sleeping, meals, teachings and the shrine will all be located in the OEC’s Cedar Center. There are separate dorms for men and women. Each have sturdy bunk beds with separate bathroom facilities including full showers.
