Falls Prevention Awareness Walk

September 23, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Falling Is Not a Normal Part of Aging!

Falls Prevention Awareness Day, Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Come walk a mile on the bike path starting at the back of the Miami Township fire station, 225 Corry St., Yellow Springs, OH, on the first day of Fall, Wed., Sept. 23, 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, for the Ten Million Steps for Falls Prevention Awareness initiative of the Ohio Department of Aging, sponsored locally by the Yellow Springs Senior Center. This is not a fundraiser.

See the video at http://aging.ohio.gov/steadyu/

Falls affect people of all ages, and most can be prevented. Walking is one way to maintain flexibility and strength for preventing falls. The walk goes one half mile south on the bike path and returns to the start. Bring your water bottle. One half mile goes a few feet beyond the tiled bench with the big sunflower.

Please, everyone of all ages come raise awareness for falls prevention. Our goal is to have 100 people walk at this awareness-raising event. Take 20 minutes of your lunch hour, come to the walk, write your name on one of the clipboards, and be counted! Thank you!
