FRUITVALE STATION

FRUITVALE STATION won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.  (this very rarely happens).  

The film tells the story of the last day of Oscar Grant, a young man who was killed by a law enforcement officer in Oakland CA in 2009.  The film won many other awards and made many top-ten lists.

Hannah Beachler is the film’s production designer, which means she was in charge of creating every aspect of the film’s “world” – the tone, feel, color, the sets, props, wardrobe, hair, make-up, etc.  It’s one of the ‘key’ jobs on a film, equal to the cinematographer.  

Hannah is a graduate of the Wright State Motion Pictures program, and a rising star in the film world.  She is also the production designer of Don Cheadle’s upcoming Miles Davis biopic MILES AHEAD, and the newly released CREED, which reunites her with Fruitvale Station writer/director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan.  

Hannah will be at the Little Art this Thursday for the screening, to talk about the making of the film and its impact.  She is awesome.
