This December, The Yellow Springs Arts Council is hosting its 4th “Holiday Art Jumble.” The Jumble is a fundraiser to support local artists and the YSAC Community Gallery. The Holiday Art Jumble opens for shopping and smiles on December 5th (1-4pm) and continues through January 3rd (Wednesday – Sunday, 1-4pm). All year long, art supporters have donated art, gently-used artsy items and antique collectibles for the Jumble. When we open on the 5th, the Gallery will be magical, with the walls and pedestals of the YSAC Gallery over flowing with art, hand-crafted whimsy, tiny collectibles and fabulous chotchkies! And all at bargain basement prices. On December 12th you can combine your holiday shopping with jubilant entertainment at YSAC’s Arts Alive! Holiday Concert with Heartstrings and Dessert Bake-off which runs from 6:30-9:30pm. The evening begins with tastings of the Best Holiday Desserts from Yellow Springs’ most cherished family recipes. Then you get to vote for the winner of the Dessert Bake-Off. From 7:30-9 pm, local favorites, “Heartstrings” will perform. This four-woman group (Mary Beth Burkholder, Sarah Goldstein, Linda Scutt and Carol Van Ausdal) plays both vocal and instrumental music with a signature blend of acoustic instruments including fiddle, harp, guitar, flute, banjo, concertina and hammered dulcimer; their repertoire draws predominantly from Celtic and Appalachian traditions, with tastes of Scandinavian, Italian and Klezmer music. They will be including festive holiday music in the concert. At 9:00 we announce the Bake Off winners. This evening is a warm and joyful experience, full of delicious desserts and lovely music. A $7 performance donation is suggested. All proceeds from the Jumble Sale and Heartstrings Concert will benefit the YS Arts Council in support of local artists and the YSAC Community Gallery.
