Agraria is excited to announce a series of workshops on Indigenous decorative arts with Talon Silverhorn, which will be held from 5–6:30 p.m. at the Agraria farm (131 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road):

Wednesday, March 9: Flint Knapping

Participants will learn how stone tools are made and used, the history and culture of Shawnee stone working, and how it helped shape Shawnee history. Each participant will have the chance to try and make a small point or drill as practice using traditional tools.

$20/person per Wednesday. Kids 12 and under free.

Other upcoming workshops by Silverhorn:

  • Wednesday, April 13: Natural Fibres
  • Wednesday, May 11: Quillwork.

Silverhorn is a citizen of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, and is actively working towards expanding the public’s understanding of Native history and the living cultures many Americans don’t realize they have access to. He has spent the last several years traveling to build bridges and educate organizations on these topics.

Silverhorn will also lead a Moccasin-making workshop on a Saturday later this summer. Stay tuned for details!
