Local Writer Series: Bomani Moyenda and Cheryl Wood Smith Wednesday, April 16, 2014 – 7:00pm

Antioch College is thrilled to announce the third installment of our Local Writer Series! We will be welcoming writers from all over the Miami Valley to come and talk about writing and share their work.

For our third event in this series, we’ll welcome Bomani Moyenda and Cheryl Wood Smith at the Coretta Scott King Center. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Bomani Moyenda is a longtime Yellow Springs resident. His poetry explores issues of social consciousness, race cultures, and a myriad of other themes. He was the winner of the 1997 Paul Lawrence Dunbar poetry prize and has performed his poetry in several venues in the tri-county area. He also has a novel in the works and hosts a local writers group. He has been active in the area primarily with undoing racism.

Cheryl Wood Smith is a poet, writer, nurse, and mother of two. She is co-founder of the Creative Energy poetry performance group and founder of the PEACE community theater group. Cheryl also holds an MA in Intercultural Relations. She is a former member of the Black Panther Party, the Dayton Committee for African Liberation, and the All African Peoples Revolutionary Party.
