The next “Minimalist” Meet-Up will take place on Thursday, July 17. We will be talking about our “STUFF!” — whatever it is that seems to be in the way or take up more time, space and thought than we want to devote to it! Let’s keep our discussion this week to objects, collections, sentimental attachments, furniture, etc. We will also enter the discussion of consumerism and the sense that we always need “more.”

In thinking about this week’s time, I thought it might be fun to either take a picture of some of your “stuff,” or perhaps think about your own home and make a list of “things” that seem to be demanding more time, space and thought than you’d like them to. Feel free also to bring a representative from your “collection.” I might bring along a box of old sympathy notes that were written to relatives I didn’t even know!

I loved that we were all able to laugh last time we got together and I hope that we’ll be able to share in that laughter again while beginning to set our own wheels in motion as to how to “free up” our minds and lives by asking the question, “Does this object add value to my life?”

We might also mention an object and/or collection that does bring joy to our lives. It’s not all about getting rid of things but really looking at whether the item serves a purpose or brings us joy and therefore, isn’t a “weight” in our physical or mental space!

I will be creating a Facebook page for this particular group as we are still hoping to pull in other folks from the Dayton area.
