Nasty Bingo formed in 2006 as a five-piece indie-pop ensemble including Steve Lewis on drums and Ol’ Smilin’ Bob Rachford on bass. With a child on the way, Steve dropped out to focus on family responsibilities. Bob quit soon after to deal with mounting health problems. Our friend Bob passed away in October of 2008.

Nasty Bingo continued on as a three-piece acoustic act, which is when the bulk of their creative work materialized. Brian Rudduck joined as bass player in September, 2008. Two weeks later they played their first show.

In 2011 NB added drummer Steve Phelps to the lineup bringing in a percussive element that adds attitude and grace to the music. In June 2012 NB added Dan Toohey on bass, replacing Brian Rudduck who dropped out to focus on his family. Most recently, in September 2012 Dan Hereford joined Nasty Bingo adding keyboards and saxophone, finally giving us the full layered sound we’ve been seeking.

Called “Folkadelic” by most of us, Nasty Bingo’s sound fuses folk, rock, blues, pop, country, gospel and a bunch of other stuff to create a very unique and accessible sound in the Dayton, Ohio area. Our original music blends all of the above with improvised portions and pop hooks that you will instantly fall in love with.
