“For the Birds” JUNE Exhibit and Opening Reception

An Exhibit to Support the Glen Helen Raptor Center

Calling all bird lovers! “For The Birds” features Talitha Greene’s award winning photographs taken over a decade of documenting individual Raptor Center Birds.

By capturing each bird’s personality in a crystal-clear winsome portrait, Talitha captivates us as well. As you come face to face with each of her bird portraits, you begin to feel like you know each bird as a friend.

Included in the Gallery Exhibit will be an unusual Bird Aviary. This one won’t contain live birds, but it will be full of zany, sweet, beautifully crafted 3/D Art Birds, made by many local artists.

Guests to the show can also craft their own bird. Art supplies will be offered for the public to create birds to take home or display on a whimsical wall design Bird Cage in the Gallery’s multi purpose room.

During the Opening Reception, part of the fun will be a Bird Art Auction. Terry Fox from Atomic Fox will be auctioning off 2/D and 3/D bird artwork. Local artists have created the Auction Artwork to support the Glen Helen Raptor Center. Fifty percent of the proceeds from each sale will be going to support the birds and fifty percent will be going to each donating artist.

“Bluzion,” a Yellow Springs Blues Band will be playing on the outdoor stage. Meadowlark Restaurant will be providing nibbles, including cookies shaped like birds! Dino’s Cappuccinos will be serving iced drinks. Starting at 6 p.m., you can browse the bird art and pick out what you want to bid on at the 7:30p.m. Auction. After the Auction, stay for more live music, talking to the artists and dancing on the patio.
