Myoutspirit.com, a website that compiles places of worship and places of spiritual practice that are open and affirming to the LGBTQ community, is sponsoring #presentperfect, a social media event that seeks to help LGBTQ youth find affirming faith communities. On Thursday, May 23, participating faith and spiritual groups all over the nation took to social media to tell LGBTQ youth: “Thousands of religious leaders think you are perfect.” These groups will then extend special welcomes to LGBTQ youth at their services over the weekend.

The YS Friends Meeting plans to offer its own message of support during this social media event, and on Sunday, June 26, will extend a special welcome to LGBTQ youth beginning at 10 a.m. During this time, assembled Quakers will be happy to answer any questions or discuss the Quaker faith at large and the YS Friends Meeting’s commitment to issues of social justice and equality. Visitors are invited to stay for singing at 10:50 a.m. and Meeting for Worship at 11:15 a.m., which will be followed by snacks and a social time.
