The First Annual SpringsFest

July 9, 2016 @ 11:00 am - July 10, 2016 @ 10:00 pm

$20

— Yellow Springs is no stranger to festivals and street fairs, but this July will mark the beginning of a new, annual progressive musical festival called SpringsFest, being co-presented by the Yellow Springs Brewery, the Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce, and Great Guys Entertainment and which will be a celebration of craft beer and music on the vanguard of the indie-folk scene.

Co-headlining the day-long concert series will be Columbus’ own Saintseneca, well known and internationally touring on the indie folk circuit, and Lily & Madeleine, hailing from Indianapolis. The line-up also features the Motel Beds, Speaking Suns, Keeps, Keeps, Moira, Swarming Branch, Human Cannonball, and more.

SpringsFest producer Conor Stratton, of Great Guys Entertainment, who produced the Dayton Music Art & Film festival last September, says his mission for the festival is for it to be a yearly celebration of progressive indie folk/rock music coupled with locally brewed craft beer and unique food trucks.

Food trucks slated to be at SpringsFest include Bighorn Pretzels and Wicked ‘Wich. SpringsFest is being made possible by the support of music and craft beer loving sponsors, Peach’s Grill, Dunphy Real Estate, The Winds Café, Toxic Beauty Records & Poster Gallery, Unique Portable Stage, and Clay + Stan. An after show concert starts at 10 pm at Peach’s Grill and features the Young Heirlooms, Indigo Wild, and Keeps. The show is free and open to those 18 years of age and over.

Karen Wintrow, Executive Director of the Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce, is excited to be working with both the Yellow Springs Brewery and Great Guys Entertainment to make the event happen. She says the festival will highlight two very important things about the village, “the craft brewing and the emerging music scene.” The event will be held outside on the grounds of the John Bryan Community Center on Dayton Street. The Chamber will run the beer garden and there will be numerous food trucks offering fare to festival-goers throughout the day from 11 am – 10 pm.

Stratton says he’s made a concerted effort to keep ticket prices low because he wants to make it affordable to everyone, young and old alike. Tickets will be $20 and can be purchased in advance at: https://www.springsfestival.com.

Nate Cornett, co-owner of Yellow Springs Brewery with his wife, Lisa Wolters, says, “We want to bring something to Yellow Springs that combines three of our favorite things: music, beer and community.”
