Yellow Springs Sk8 Park Launch

Celebrate the completion of Phase 1 improvements to the YS Sk8 Park on June 13th from noon to 5pm with skateboarding contests, product giveaways, live music & art, kids’ activities, cool vendors and much more! During Street Fair, the Village of Yellow Springs Public Art Commission will be hosting a grand opening for the new & improved Skate Park and a fundraiser for Phase 2 upgrades. This will be a family-friendly event, offering a fun venue for locals and the regional skating community.

Locally owned and operated Centennial Skateboards, Redrum Skate Co., One Love Skate Shop, Ghost Town Wheels, Stix Skateboards and Atomic Fox will be sponsoring “best trick”, “Game of S.K.A.T.E.” and “best run” contests for all levels (beginner, intermediate & advanced) throughout the afternoon. Demonstrations and instruction from local skateboard teams coupled with a live art mural for all ages facilitated by Nancy Epling will round out the day, making for a high impact experience! Enjoy Bentino’s pizza, Corner Cone ice cream and a wide selection of grilled dogs while jammin’ with Army of Infants (noon), Nasty Bingo (1pm), Element Earth (2pm) and DJ Don Johnson (3pm) during a full-on skating extravaganza! Children and adventurous adults can also play on the new “Sk8 Swings” – a permanent feature at the YS Sk8 Park.

The June 13th YS Sk8 Park Launch will be an exciting day recognizing all that is great about skateboarding and local skate parks. The YS Skate Park was one of the first in our surrounding communities, and it has been in need of improvements for several years. The upgrades will provide a safe & fun environment for all ages & skill levels. Please join in celebrating this endeavor – and bring a great attitude!
