With an astonishing collection of talent, the Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour and Sale stands out among art excursions. The 2014 Yellow Springs Artist Studio Tour represents the fourteenth consecutive tour. The tour will have seven host studio locations, each with an eclectic variety of artists. There will be a total of 25 artists participating in the Tour. Studios will be open to the public on Saturday October 18th and Sunday October 19th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The Studio Tour features ceramics, fiber, mixed media, printmaking, woodworking, sculpture, jewelry, glass, painting, graphic arts and more. The work is serious and thought provoking yet whimsical, expressive and narrative. Artists will be coming from, North Caroline, Kansas and throughout Ohio. Many of these artists are nationally and internationally acclaimed through a variety of awards, accolades, articles, books and exhibitions. Their works are available in all price ranges.

Collectors and art lovers travel from far away to take advantage of the informal face-to-face visits with artists while learning about their processes and techniques. The Tour provides opportunities for making personal connections to better understand the artists’ inspiration and process. The Tour is a source of high quality, art. This is a unique opportunity to meet artists who do what they love and to make purchases directly from the source. The tour also provides an ideal opportunity for interior designers and gallery owners to make new connections and discover new work for their clients.

This annual event varies each year, as new artists are invited to participate in the tour with tenured artists This year there will be twelve artists who are new to the tour. Organizer, Lisa Goldberg is particularly “excited that there will be so many new talented artists, along with old favorites, to make a well rounded event”. She said “the driving tour provides an opportunity for collectors, art enthusiasts and weekend shoppers to personally visit these creative artists studios and get a head start on their holiday shopping while being able to choose from a broad spectrum of art at all prices”.

Yellow Springs businesses enthusiastically sponsor this successful event. WCBE radio (90.5 FM) of Columbus and WYSO radio (91.3) of the Miami Valley are the official media sponsors. Organizers are partnering with the YS Chamber to create an occasion for visitors to spend the weekend exploring the arts in Yellow Springs. The weekend, dubbed “ Third Weekend Art in the Springs”, begins Friday night with the Art Stroll in downtown galleries and restaurants, It continues over the weekend with the studio tour, a driving tour showcasing the artwork of twenty-five distinctive artists on both Saturday and Sunday. While in Yellow Springs, be sure to visit the building site of the Mills Park Hotel where the hotel owners have partnered with the YS Arts Council and local artists to erect a construction wall of beautiful art panels. Pick up a public art and bronze trail map and enjoy these other complementary ways to enjoy art in the village.
